Walking Services for XL Bully Dogs

At The Animal Days, the safety of our team, our clients, and every dog in our care is our top priority.

Following the UK Government legislation regarding XL Bully dogs, we are able to offer walking services for legally exempt XL Bullies, provided certain requirements are met in line with our insurance policy and operational procedures.

Requirements for XL Bully Walking Services

To accept an XL Bully onto our walking services, the following conditions must be in place:

1. Index of Exempted Dogs (IED) Registration

Your dog must be legally registered on the UK Government’s Index of Exempted Dogs (IED).

We will require a copy of the official Life Certificate before services begin and in the event of any insurance claim.

2. Public Liability Insurance

Owners must hold valid public liability insurance covering their XL Bully.

A copy of the insurance certificate must be provided prior to services starting.

3. 1:1 Handling Ratio

XL Bullies must remain on a strict 1:1 handler-to-dog ratio at all times during walks and transport.

This means your dog will always be handled individually by a dedicated team member.

4. Neutering Requirements

All XL Bullies must be neutered in accordance with current UK Government legislation.

5. Microchipping

Your dog must be microchipped and details kept up to date.

6. Lead and Muzzle Requirements

In public spaces, XL Bullies must remain:

  • On a lead at all times

  • Properly muzzled at all times

These requirements apply throughout walks, collections, drop-offs, and any public interaction.

Secure Field Walks

We understand many owners want their dogs to have safe enrichment and exercise opportunities.

For this reason, we may use privately rented secure dog fields under very specific conditions.

When Lead and Muzzle Removal May Be Allowed

Lead and muzzle removal is only permitted when:

  • The field is private property

  • There is no public access through the field

  • The field is securely fenced with no escape risk

  • The XL Bully remains leaded and muzzled until the gate is securely closed

  • The dog is re-leaded and re-muzzled before the gate is reopened

Multiple Dogs From the Same Household

If dogs from the same household attend together:

  • A minimum of one handler must be present

  • Leads and muzzles may be removed for all household dogs once safely inside the secure field

Dogs From Different Households

If dogs from different households are present:

  • The XL Bully must remain muzzled and on lead at all times

  • The 1:1 handling ratio remains in place

Our Commitment to Safety

We know XL Bullies are loved family pets, and our goal is to provide safe, structured, and legally compliant enrichment opportunities wherever possible.

Our policies are designed to:

  • Protect your dog

  • Protect our staff

  • Meet legal requirements

  • Ensure full insurance compliance

If you have any questions about our XL Bully walking policies, please contact The Animal Days directly before booking services.
